🌊 Dive into the perfect pH balance!
Seachem Acid Regulator is a 250-gram solution designed to adjust aquarium pH levels to the acidic range of 4.5-6.8, while softening water by precipitating calcium and magnesium. Ideal for creating a suitable environment for fish that prefer acidic waters, it can be used in conjunction with a neutral regulator for precise adjustments.

Years of pH stability
There are two stages to using this product: initial pH lowering and pH maintenance.Initial pH lowering is a major pain, but you only need to do it once. Water pH levels are held in place by chemical buffers which gives the pH stability over time. The initial lowering is tough because you have to "beat back" the alkaline buffers in the water. In fact, because of the buffering effect you could have no observable change for a long time and suddenly the pH starts moving fast. It's just like cycling the tank for the first time, when you wonder if ammonia levels will EVER drop.pH maintenance is much easier. If you use a bucket to do your water changes, you can fill it up with water as normal and see what combination of acid and neutral regulators give you the pH you want. That is what you then use when you fill the bucket for water changes!Another nice feature of this acid regulator is that it softens the water. Note though that if you use aeration in your tank, the airstone will work kind of like a protein skimmer. When the air bubbles pop at the surface of the water, a little bit of sediment gets thrown out. Over time, that sediment can build up, making the top of your aquarium crusty. It's easy to clean off, but can be a head-scratcher at first!

Surprisingly effective
Maybe I shouldn't be surprised, after all Seachem is a company worth its salt, but I haven't had success with all of their products (Acid Buffer, PH Alert) but I have adored Prime, Flourish and now the "Regulator" series.Anyway, when used in conjunction with Neutral Regulator, the efficacy is amazing. In buffered water the results are extremely predictable. I keep Clown Loaches, Neon Tetras, Albino BN Plecs, and Cories, so soft, slightly acidic water is needed. Finally, a product that helps me get there, and stay there.I brought the pH down from an enormous 8.0 to 6.8 over the course of 6 weeks (so as to not shock the fish). I have let it lie for 1 week since and the pH is stable. I had to do a little improvising... since my initial pH was so high, and my tap water so unbuffered, I needed more than the recommended dose. I had to add a small amount almost every day after the initial dose, and monitor the results closely with a pH liquid test. (For this I chose API's tests - the pH tests are accurate). I would take 4 test tubes, and keep up to 4 previous measurements over the days, so I could see the subtle changes in pH. Trust me, you almost have to do this to tell the difference between, for example, 7.6 and 7.4 on the low pH scale.Anyway, ever since achieving the target pH of 6.8, I don't need to add Regulator all the time anymore, just when doing a water change. I did one today, added the 1:1 dose of Neutral Reg to Acid Reg and guess what? My pH stayed exactly at 6.8. Awesome.Ever since getting the pH to where it needed to be, my fish have thrived. They are active, lively, eating well, and growing. If you're willing to do the work to do it right, get this product (and get Neutral Regulator along with it).I dock a star because it's expensive, and because it wasn't particularly intuitive how to use it for proper results. But it wasn't rocket science either, just basic science. :)

Usually a Big Seachem Fan but not of This
Used alongside neutral regulator. Going for a pH of 6.5 in a buffered tank and after a couple months these products never got it to a 7 let alone below a 7 so after using almost the entire jar of both products I’m giving up on it.

raises your phosphate levels
it works but doesn't buffer , and it raises your phosphate levels to almost killer for plants and fish. kinda of sorry i bought it will just be sitting in a box collecting dust
