Worried about nursing school? Buy this book!
This book is absolutely amazing. I’m 29 years old and after 10 years am finally heading back to school for nursing, and if I said I wasn’t terrified I’d be lying. But Nurse Mo’s book gives such a great picture of not only what to expect in school and clinicals, but gives you the absolute best tools to manage your time successfully and study conceptually rather than rote memorization. It’s written so conversationally, its almost as if she’s actually there just talking to you. My anxiety regarding school was significantly reduced and replaced by excitement and I head into my program with confidence. You can tell that this book was truly a labor of love, as is everything Nurse Mo does. Her website is an incredible resource for any nursing student (or even practicing nurses for that matter), as is her podcast “Straight A Nursing”. Thank you so much for being sharing what you’ve learned to ensure the future of nursing is bright.

quick, informative read
I would recommend this book to anyone in pre-nursing or nursing school! I loved that it was a quick, easy read and it really took away all the secretiveness of how things work in nursing school (like: how are clinicals organized? My school didn’t tell me beforehand, but this book did!)

Some of it is medical gibberish. But goo fundamental advice.
I like it; however it gets into information I don't understand yet. I wish it gave me an example of time managementEx.School schedule (m - Thur 9am - 3 pm + clinicals + a full-time work schedule (3day/12hs) + study blocks + rests + food prep blocks + vacation = mock up color blocking schedule to work off of.This way I could scan it and then crop it and then move stuff to fit my needs...Other than that the 3 binder technique is going with me.I found a $10 planner set at Walmart it's 12 months undated and it has gel pens and highlights, 16 sticker sets, and star shaped paper clips. It's worth 22 I feel blessed.I think I'm just going to study 2- 4 hours everyday after school... 6-8 on Friday if I go PRN in the ER...If not I'll study 4-6 hours after schoolAnd 2/ 30 minute sessions on my work nights...Goodluck.

Calmed my Anxiety about what to expect!
So I have been listening to the Straight A Nursing podcast and I have loved it. So I decided to buy her book. I am pre nursing school and the one thing that was holding me back was my anxiety about the unknown of nursing school and what it is like to actually have a nursing job. I have to say, after reading this book, I am much more confident and reassured. It gave me an idea of how to succeed in nursing school and what it is like when you're actually in the hospital setting. It took about an hour to read. Which leads me to my only complaint... I wish it was longer because I absolutely loved reading it!

Just Buy It! You won't regret it.
SO VALUABLE! I'm am organization and preparation freak so even though I enjoyed reading those sections, I didn't take away that much from them. I've already done or am planning to tackle most of those suggestions this summer before I start my BSN in the Fall. If you aren't inherently an organized person you NEED this book. But that's not the only reason you need it!Other sections:She breaks down the types of classes you'll encounter (GREAT info!)Learning stylesHow to studyLATTE (which she describes as a "systematic way to zero in on what you need to focus on in order to care for your patient")How to be a clinical rockstar (this includes care plan info and the components of a nursing diagnosis, charting, time management...everything!)Study groupsTest-taking strategiesGroup projectsHow to take time for yourself (really!)This is 75 pages of amazing material. It's not expensive. BUY IT!

I'm so glad I heard about Maureen's E-Book
I have looked into a number of books that I could read that would help ease my anxiety and prepare me before class started. I'm so glad I heard about Maureen's E-Book. It is a well written, information packed page turner. It has great personal advise and step by step guided schedules. Maureen addresses the different styles of learning and how to incorporate each one into studying. She also provides great resources to help. After reading her book I can't wait to start classes. I know I have a good foundation of what to expect and how to start my studies. Over all an easy read that is very helpful. She also has a blog and Facebook page(Straight A Nursing Student). I will be recommending this E-Book and Maureen's blog to classmate this year. :)
